There is no new law and no Amnesty!

The Obama administration has announced that it will be reviewing the current cases that it is prosecuting at the immigration courts around the country to see how many it considers to be too low a priority to continue. Some of these "low priority cases" will no longer be prosecuted by ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement) a Division of the Department of Homeland Security. While this may be good news for some people facing the possibility of being removed from the United States. It is not a program that can be signed up for, it is not an amnesty program, it is not a new law, and it is not something that an immigration consultant can be paid to make you eligible for. The American Immigration Lawyers Association has issued a bulletin warning people not to be swindled out of their money by persons claiming to be able to get legal status for immigrants because of this recent announcement. See the document from AILA attached.
